PUCSC president seeks 2 seats for student representatives in reformed Senate

To strengthen infrastructure, Sohal requested the ministry to consider a special capital grant for Panjab University, citing years of pending repairs and upgrades across hostels, academic blocks, and laboratories.Panjab University Campus Students Council (PUCSC) president Gaurav Veer Sohal, along with ABVP members, met Union higher education secretary Vineet Joshi in New Delhi on Tuesday and submitted a memorandum listing governance, equity, and infrastructure issues at the university. Apart from demanding withdrawal of the anti-protest affidavit, the delegation sought student participation in the proposed restructured Senate, seeking at least two seats for elected student council members to ensure institutional representation for students in key decision-making processes.To strengthen infrastructure, Sohal requested the ministry to consider a special capital grant for Panjab University, citing years of pending repairs and upgrades across hostels, academic blocks, and laboratories. He also urged the Centre to facilitate completion of the long-pending auditorium project and to intervene in the property tax issue with the Chandigarh MC, arguing that the levy burdens an educational institution.The memorandum sought full implementation of OBC reservation in admissions and recruitment and reiterated the demand for Panjab University to be declared an institute of eminence.The delegation included Virendra Singh Solanki, national general secretary, ABVP; Shivangi Kharwal, national secretary; and Gaurav Attri, north zone organising secretary, ABVP.
