AAP provided only 2 jobs in 2024 through its online portals: Employment minister Kapil Mishra

Delhi Government’s Employment Portal Performance: A Detailed Analysis

Low Job Placements Through Online Portals

The previous AAP government in Delhi facilitated only two job placements through its employment portals, including Rozgar Bazar, in the past five years. Employment Minister Kapil Mishra shared this information during the ongoing budget session of the Assembly.

Employment Data Over the Years

In response to BJP MLA Abhay Verma’s query, the minister revealed that Delhi’s online employment portal has been functional since 2009, while the Rozgar Bazar portal launched in 2020. From 2015 to 2018, over 400 jobs were provided through the online portal. However, between 2019 and 2023, no jobs were allocated via this platform. In 2024, only two individuals secured employment through the portal.

Technical Issues with Rozgar Bazar

The Rozgar Bazar portal, introduced on July 10, 2020, ceased operations in May 2023 due to technical issues. The government is currently considering its revival to improve job placement rates in the future.

Job Shortlisting at Rozgar Melas

Despite low placements through online portals, the Delhi government reported that 36,062 individuals were shortlisted for private sector jobs through 10 Rozgar Melas conducted between 2015 and 2019. These job fairs aimed to bridge the gap between job seekers and potential employers.

AAP’s Employment Claims vs. Reality

AAP leaders, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, previously claimed that the Rozgar Bazar portal facilitated employment for over 10 lakh Delhi residents in two years. However, official data contradicts these statements, raising concerns about job creation efforts.

Delhi’s Unemployment Rate in Comparison

In its defense, AAP asserted that Delhi has one of the lowest unemployment rates in India, at 2.1%, citing an annual report from the BJP-led Central Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation. The party also claimed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, it created 12 lakh jobs.

BJP’s Victory in Delhi Assembly Elections

The recent Delhi Assembly elections marked the end of AAP’s decade-long rule, with the BJP securing 48 out of 70 seats. AAP managed to win only 22 seats, reflecting a significant political shift in the capital.

This employment data has sparked discussions on the effectiveness of government initiatives in reducing unemployment. As the BJP takes charge, all eyes are on its strategies for improving job opportunities in Delhi.
