Bokaro college lacks amenities, DC orders audit

Unhappy with the conditions, Jha asked the college management to conduct a fortnight long cleanliness drive and draft a maintenance plan.Bokaro: Deputy commissioner (DC) Ajay Nath Jha conducted a surprise inspection of the Khunti-Jaridih Polytechnic College on Thursday after its students flagged poor sanitation and living conditions on social media.Jha visited the institute, interacted with the students and found out that the hostels had unhygienic living conditions. The toilets were found damaged and there was an acute crisis of drinking water. Unhappy with the conditions, Jha asked the college management to conduct a fortnight long cleanliness drive and draft a maintenance plan. “Instructions were also given to install CCTV cameras, appoint wardens, and deploy home guards in hostels to ensure student safety,” Jha said after his inspection. The DC directed the local block development and circle officers to carry out a three-year financial audit of all govt funds received and spent by the college. Emphasis was laid on transparent accounting and identifying areas needing urgent investment.Students also informed Jha that internet connectivity was poor on the college premises. “There is a lack of sports facilities, an inadequate library and lack of proper medical aid,” they told the DC.
