AIMPLB Protests Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 on Alvida Juma

All India Muslim Personal Law Board urges Muslims to wear black bands on Alvida Juma to protest Waqf bill

New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has urged Muslims across India to wear black armbands during Alvida Juma, the last Friday of Ramzan, as a mark of protest against the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025.

In a post on X, AIMPLB stated, “It is the responsibility of every Muslim in the country to strongly oppose this bill. We appeal to all Muslims to wear black armbands while coming to the mosque on Jumu’atul Wida as a silent and peaceful protest.”

The board called the Waqf Amendment Bill 2025 a “sinister conspiracy” aimed at depriving Muslims of their mosques, Eidgahs, madrasas, dargahs, khanqahs, graveyards, and charitable institutions. It also highlighted ongoing protests in Jantar Mantar (Delhi) and Dharna Sthal (Patna), which have reportedly unsettled BJP’s allies. A major protest is also planned in Vijayawada on March 29, 2025.

Tamil Nadu Assembly Opposes the Bill

On Thursday, the Tamil Nadu Assembly passed a resolution against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill 2024. Chief Minister MK Stalin introduced the resolution, arguing that the bill discriminates against Muslims.

“The central government is introducing laws that threaten state rights, culture, and traditions. India is a diverse country with multiple cultures, languages, and traditions. This bill is an act of revenge against the states,” Stalin said during the assembly session.

The 1995 Waqf Act, which governs Waqf properties, has faced criticism for corruption, mismanagement, and unauthorized occupations. The proposed 2025 amendments aim to modernize Waqf regulations by introducing stricter property registration and monitoring rules
