Speaking on Cricbuzz, Tiwary expressed disappointment over Rohit’s numbers.
“I don’t want to be too harsh, but sometimes you have to be. A player of Rohit Sharma’s caliber should not settle for 400 runs. Last season, he hit a century and managed 400 runs, but where is the 800-900 run season? Why does Virat Kohli always manage to do it?”
Tiwary also emphasized that Rohit was retained by MI despite last season’s controversies, adding that expectations were high. However, with another slow start, the team’s confidence in him could be shaken.
Sehwag: “Too Late for a 600-700 Run Season”
Virender Sehwag agreed with Tiwary’s assessment, stating that it’s unlikely for Rohit to suddenly deliver a 600-700 run season, especially at this stage of his career.
“Where is that breakthrough season? Isn’t it too late now? We are all fans, but we have to ask: when has Rohit ever scored 600-700 runs in an IPL season? It’s been 18 years, and if he hasn’t done it yet, how can we expect it now?”
