In his letter to Bose, Adhikari highlighted concerns
New Delhi: West Bengal’s Leader of Opposition, Suvendu Adhikari, has written to Governor CV Ananda Bose, demanding immediate paramilitary deployment in Malda’s Mothabari following reports of communal violence.
In his letter, Adhikari highlighted concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. “A shocking incident occurred on March 27 in Mothabari, where a large group of miscreants from a particular community launched a violent attack on Sanatani Hindus in the area,” wrote the BJP’s Nandigram MLA.
He claimed that such incidents indicate a complete breakdown of law and order. “The Central Armed Police Force must be deployed urgently to protect the Sanatani Hindus from further attacks,” he added.
BJP Criticizes Mamata Banerjee’s Absence
Meanwhile, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya, the party’s co-incharge of West Bengal, strongly criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for being in London while violence escalated in Malda.
“Communal violence erupts in Mothabari, Dakshin Malda—murderous Muslim mobs rampage through streets, attacking Hindu homes, shops, and cars without provocation. Meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee prances around in London, indifferent to the chaos back home,” Malviya posted on X.
West Bengal’s Political Landscape
Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mamata Banerjee has been West Bengal’s Chief Minister since 2011. As the state gears up for the May 2026 assembly elections, she aims for a fourth consecutive term.
